The pupils of a junior school in Hackney were the recipients of 300 new books for their library, with bestselling children's author Lauren Child there as guest of honour.
The 'Charlie & Lola' author spoke to the children at their morning assembly about why she enjoys reading and writing and illustrating books. She then faced a room full of year 3 and 4 pupils asking questions about her inspiration, work and characters from her books. Lauren is an ambassador for the National Literacy Trust, a charity that advocates literacy in the UK who are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year.
